Mr Phil Shelton - 2.8kWp domestic system on a flat roof

Thursday 16 October 2014

Phil Shelton lives in a 1920’s property in Leicester. Although the house does not have a cavity wall, Phil has tried to minimise the energy used in his house by installing loft insulation, a new condensing boiler, a smart meter and low energy lighting, including state of the art LED bulbs. Having implemented these energy efficiency measures, Phil looked to install a photo-voltaic (PV) system to generate electricity for his home.

Phil says ‘because of the Feed in Tariff - it brought the installation of PV into the realms of practical aspiration and will provide a payback in eight years’.

Mounted on a flat roof, the panels Phil chose were Sanyo HIT 235Wp, which provided the maximum generating capacity for the space available.

Phil found Run by the Sun through an internet search and was specifically looking for a local installer. Phil explains ‘Simon’s quote was very good, he knew exactly what he was talking about and it made a lot of sense. The installation was fantastic with no problems and I would thoroughly recommend Run by the Sun to anyone’.
